How To Practice The Von Latta Technique
I have found that when I do the VLT the pain in my spine moves downward with the movement of my hands down my thighs. That is, as my hands move down my thighs the pain moves down my spine, corresponding exactly with the pressure being exerted by my hands. If I stop, say in mid-thigh, a very noticeable and unpleasant phenomena occurs: it seems the pain remains for a few moments at the spot where I stop exerting pressure. I always do a full application of the VLT once I start it. I move the pain in my spine downward with the movement of my hands on my thighs and I never stop short of the furthest point downward that I can exert pressure. AS I come to the furthest point downward where I can exert pressure with my hands, the pain that I am experiencing in my spine seems to disappear off the end of my tailbone. I recommend that you always complete a Pyramid exercise or you may be left, for a few moments, with an unnecessary discomfort. No damage will be done and discomfort will disappear almost immediately, but why allow it to exist even for a short period of time. It is so easy to push the pain down and out of your body by simply finishing the movements once they are started.

When the hands are placed on the thigh at the base of an inverted triangle the corresponding pressure is felt on the spine between the hands.
