Von Latta Technique

How To Practice The Von Latta Technique?

On the three occasions during the last three years when my wife adjusted my back, it was during the day and my back was far too tight to successfully apply this therapy. Then, and only then, because I needed immediate relief, did I have her do a hip-rotation. Its been more than a year since I have needed her help with my back. Because the hip-rotation has been a very important factor in my life, I will include a brief description of the technique.

The subject lies on his side with the lower leg extended in a straight line with the body. The upper leg is bent and pulled upward (fig. 1). The person doing the hip-rotation kneels in front of the subject and places her right hand on the subject's hip and places her left hand on the subject's shoulder. (fig. 2). By pulling and pushing downward with the right hand while pushing backwards and down with the left hand, the small of the back has a twisting motion exerted on it. This is the force that manipulates the lower spine. This technique is fairly difficult to learn and apply. It should never be attempted on anyone with a physical disability of the lower back. I offered this technique because it has been very important to me in the past.

When my back is really bothering me, the single fact that now sustains me is that before I learned the Von Latta Technique my back would be out for days on end...agonizing, endless, pain filled days. NO MORE! That never happens now.

NEVER!
