Grey Wolf Will Come and Teach Your Group To Build Drums.
My classes are creative in nature and a joyous experience.
I do discuss the spiritual nature of drums and their place in human history.
My objective is to provide the students with an opportunity to build an elk rawhide drum and to discover their own, personal relationship with that drum.
During a drum making session we make
15" octagon shaped drums. The frames are western red cedar and/or white pine, each hand-crafted, sanded, polished and waterproofed. The drum heads and lacing are
elk rawhide. Each drum kit also comes with a white oak drum beater.
Students are given a wide variety of 15" drum frames from which to choose
their own, special drum.
Each participant will receive a generous amount of glass and wooden beads, leather,
furs, elk and horse hair tuffs, and much more for authentic ornamentation.
Student can ornament their drum and beater at a later time, at their
convenience.
A variety of other size drum kits are available. If there will be students
making drums other than the standard 15" frame, I need to know at least 5
days before the class. Each finished 15" drum, with ornamentation added,
will be worth $100 or more. I'm including this information so people will know
that these are real drums with a substantial monetary value.
Being part of a drum making session can be a wonderful family project with the
parents and children making a drum together or each making their own drum.
The classes are always cheerful and informative with an ongoing dialog between
the students and myself. My hands-on teaching method guarantees the drum we
build will be of professional quality.
- The session will take approximately 3 1/2
hours
- The 15 " drum kits are $65 each
- There is a $75 teaching fee plus travel
expenses.
Each new class means new friends and new drums coming into the world.
In each finished drum there will be a voice waiting to speak. The voice
in the drum will speak when the time is right.
The voice will be there
for generations. I like that. ~ greywolf
I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Clifford Latta
